Fiona MacDonald

Abbey Fellow 2011

Fiona MacDonald has spent the last 2 years making a series of paintings and sculptures that reference historical works of art, largely from the Italian renaissance. Time in Rome will offer her a valuable opportunity to study these works in situ. Jessica is interested in the spatial solutions of, for example, the Chigi Chapel, The Cornaro Chapel and the tomb of Urban Vll and wants to study the integrated relationships between sculpture, painting and the architectural enclosure. Jessica's time in Rome will afford her an opportunity to undertake further study of another of her great interests the Baroque and Rococo.
