The steps of the British School at Rome transfigure into a Lampadusa shore line. 
Dec 3rd 2024 -
Rubber dinghies wash up on the shore, deconsecrating the once sacred steps. Criminals are spotted scaling the building, attempting to gain access from the roof.
Jan 25th 2025 -
The criminals gained entry under cover of night, making camp in small pockets of the building. Legally unable to enforce an eviction, staff at the BSR attempted to maintain normal routines under occupation. All efforts to play tennis had been hampered by the construction of a make shift hut on the court by the criminals, who had repurposed their naval detritus as construction material. 
Mar 7th 2025 -
An armed separatist militia, funded by the BSR (and serving as proxy), executed a raid at night killing all members of the occupying criminal gang, liberating the tennis court, dining room and the occupied atrium. The group (The RSB, ‘Reform, Secure, Britain’) is believed to have undergone overseas training by American Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. Whose rhetoric of ‘hunting down’ immigrants inspired the group to use bows and arrows in the raid on March 7th, instead of more conventional weapons.
Mar 25th 2025 -
An equestrian psychopomp* carries the criminals to the afterlife. Pedestrians walking past the BSR have reported being able to see the ghostly creature.

* Epona is an example of a ‘psychopomp’. Which means ’guide of souls’. Psychopomps take the form of religious figures, anthropomorphic animals, gods, personified concepts or very real people like shamans.Originally worshipped by the Gauls of Italy and France, Epona is a Roman-Celtic goddess, venerated from Britannia to North Africa between the first and third centuries AD. She carried the souls of the deceased to the after-life on her horses. In Jungian psychology, the psychopomp is a mediator between the unconscious and the conscious realms. It is symbolically personified in dreams as a wise man or woman, or sometimes as a helpful beast.
