I am interested in ornament - a term that is often used in a derogatory way but that feels accurate and positive. I visited neo-classical gardens, studying their proportions, repetitions and ornamental qualities in such places as Villa Doria Pamphili and Villa Borghese. I am fascinated by the use of water and the relationship between ornamental water and liquid paint. I use the stencil technique and used my time in Rome to re-invigorate my repertoire of 'readymade' simple hand made forms and increasing my understanding of how to use them.
