“During my time at the BSR, I collaborated with a number of other residents, including a classicist studying female poisoners, a 19th century art historian looking at gender and ecocriticism, an Etruscan archaeologist researching protohistoric livestock. Through the friendship and research of other artists, archaeologists, and academics throughout my time at BSR, I got to see many sites that I never would have visited on my own, encountered a wealth of art, and deepened my understanding of classical Rome, Renaissance Florence, Baroque and classical architecture, Roman mosaics, 19th-century women painters, Etruscan votive objects and trade, along with countless other insights that enriched my artistic practice and research.”
