My experience of working for three months, with the support of the award and of the BSR, was profound and unique. I felt enormously privileged for many reasons, not least being able to work continuously without interruption or distraction, and with amazing studio facilities as well as comfortable, convenient living arrangements. Due to the time and space the residency gave me, I was able to go to places in my work that felt very uncertain and full of doubt. At times I found this very challenging but ultimately it was a vital part of the process of making a new body of work. I will take this experience forward, in my heart, as I continue in my art practice.
