The underlying focus of my intended research and work as the Abbey Scholar, was centred on experiencing and reacting to a number of artists, artworks and spaces whose concerns lay in attempting to portray the unfigurable. ‘Hyper-text anchorites’ and their creations, that have drawn on techniques that sought to ‘mark’ memory and which relate to a dualistic cosmology, a metaphysical order indifferent to the task of describing or depicting reality.
